Dunloy mark 60th Festival day and parade

Dunloy Accordion Band are celebrating their 60th anniversary this year and have been busy as usual with a large number of parades and functions to attend. Saturday, July 30 sees their annual band parade being held in the town starting as usual from Ballymoney Showgrounds at 7.30pm sharp.

Because it is the band’s 60th anniversary this year they are delighted to welcome back their festival day as an addition to this year’s parade. The festival day will commence at 1pm at Castlecroft with Mourne Young Defenders, Blazin Bellows, Topp Star of the North pipe band and Dunloy Accordion Band and Concert Group. The compere for the afternoon festival will be Joe Graham. Also accompanying the festival will be children’s entertainment. More online!

After the festival day finishes at Castlecroft, Baillies Mills Accordion Band will be on hand with some top class entertainment from 6pm until the parade starts at 7.30. Prior to the beginning of the parade there will also be entertainment on High Street from 6.30pm to 7.30pm with Pride of Ballinran and Kellswater Flute bands. After this the parade will then follow it’s usual route from the Showgrounds via Charlotte Street and this year will be led by a massed brass band, comprising several top class silver bands. The band have already received a positive number of replies from bands wishing to take part in the parade, including The Queen Elizabeth Accordion band from Scotland, Hamilton and Churchill Flute bands from Londonderry, East Belfast Protestant boys, Drumderg, Star of Knockagh Accordion and Millar Memorial.

In the run up to the parade and festival day, the band will also be holding once again their informal evening of song, music and chat on Thursday, July 28th in Dunloy village. Everyone is welcome to come along and supper will be provided.
