Dunluce exhibition in Coleraine Town Hall

A NEW exhibition ‘Dunluce: Icon of the Causeway Coast’, coordinated by Coleraine Museum staff, opened last week in Coleraine Town Hall.

Dunluce Castle has inspired artists, poets, story tellers and photographers throughout its long history and their representations have contributed to making it the icon it is today. The exhibition includes artworks, books, an illuminated address, postcards and photographs of Dunluce from the Coleraine Museum Collection.

Also featured in the exhibition is the recent PEACEIII Cultural Connections Legacy of Plantation project where the Causeway Museum Service has been working with local communities to explore the history and legacy of Plantation. As a unique and exciting part of this project, local community groups took part in the ongoing excavation at Dunluce with Dr Colin Breen and the Centre of Maritime Archaeology, University of Ulster Coleraine. Their exciting discoveries during their time on site, are changing our understanding of Dunluce’s history and significance.

Causeway Museum Service delivered this project on behalf of the four local authorities Coleraine, Limavady, Ballymoney and Moyle councils. The project is part of ‘Cultural Connections’, financed by the European Union PEACE III Programme managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by the North East PEACE III Partnership.
