Dunluce teachers run Lisburn 10k for Darren

THIRTEEN teachers from Dunluce school completed the Lisburn 10k run to raise funds for the Children’s Cancer Unit charity.

The charity, which assists children suffering from cancer and their families, was of tremendous support to the family of Year 8 pupil, Darren Moore, who sadly passed away in April of this year.

The teachers readily signed up to run the 10k and have raised £2,500 as a tribute to 12-year-old Darren.

In April the acting principal of Dunluce School led tributes to the Ballyrock pupil who passed away after losing his fight against cancer. Darren, who was diagnosed with Leukaemia last Christmas, was described as a “kind” and “generous” person, and someone who had made a lasting impression during his brief spell at the Bushmills school.

David Loughrey said that both pupils and teachers had been left deeply upset by the news of Darren’s death.

“Truly and honestly Darren was great. He was very good, very sensitive, a very generous person. his kindness came out in it. I reminded everyone about an assembly he had taken part in and how his kindness came out in it,” added Mr Loughery
