Duo arrested in connection with Dungannon robbery

Police are questioning two men in connection with a robbery in Dungannon over the weekend.

The pair, aged 37 and 32, were arrested after a chase across counties Down and Antrim on Sunday.

They will be questioned in connection with a number of incidents including two aggravated burglaries in west Belfast and Dungannon as well as an incident in Park Lane in Newcastle over the weekend.

Detective Sergeant Michael Hawthorne said: “A car, stolen during an aggravated burglary in Newcastle at around 11.20pm, was spotted by police on Saintfield Road outside Belfast at around 11.40pm.

“It was followed and subsequently pursued and intercepted on the Seven Mile Straight in Antrim.

“The arrested males, who ran from the vehicle, were detained a very short distance away.

“Detectives investigating all of these incidents are keen to hear from witnesses. They can be contacted by calling 101 and asking for Musgrave Reactive and Organised Crime.”
