DUP councillor compares funeral to ISIS parade

DUP Councillor David Ramsey has compared the appearance of dozens of masked men at the funeral of Peggy O’Hara in Londonderry to parades by Islamic State in Syria.

Mrs O’Hara, the mother of INLA hunger-striker Patsy O’Hara and a former independent republican candidate in the Foyle Assembly elections, passed away last week.

Mr Ramsey took to social media after shots were fired at Mrs O’Hara’s wake and massed ranks of mourners wearing paramilitary uniform followed her remains through Londonderry on Saturday.

He tweeted: “Media silence while terrorists show of strength in chapel grounds, are we #ireland or #Syria.”

And also commented: “#Anarchism in #Derry as unapologetic #Republicans #terrorists parade the streets #shame.”
