MLAS Stephen Moutray, Sydney Anderson and William Irwin said the decision at today’s SELB Board meeting was ‘shameful’.

In a joint statement they said: “We have been overwhelmed by the support for our ‘Save the Dickson Campaign’ and were delighted with the number of people who supported our peaceful demonstration.

“However the disappointing, shameful decision of the Board to support Option A is one that we will fight and challenge.

“As DUP elected representatives for the area we will be looking at every avenue to overturn this decision that ultimately will lead to the desiccation of Dickson if permitted to be implemented.

“The five who voted against Option A and clearly supported Option B must be commended for the stand they took and the fact that they clearly listened to the community. The SELB have rode roughshod over the

people on this matter and will not be forgiven.

“Never have we seen such a public lobby on any one issue before in Craigavon and Tandragee. There was a clear, concise message from the people and we must continue to fight for what people want and that is

the retention of the Dickson plan as we know and love it.”
