DUP welcomes Waterside kitchen replacements

DUP Councillor Hilary McClintock has welcomed the announcement that kitchens are to be replaced in hundreds of Waterside homes over the forthcoming year.

Over 3,000 homes in Londonderry will benefit from a £15.82 million Housing Executive upgrade and maintaintenance programme over 2014/15.

Councillor McClintock has welcomed the inclusion of the Milltown area of Tullyally in the programme of work for 2014/2015.

According to the Housing Executive’s District Housing Plan for the city, 147 units at ‘Milltown/Stevenson Park’ will benefit from ‘external cyclical maintenance’ and 139 units at ‘Milltown/Seymour Gardens’ will benefit from ‘kitchen replacements.’

Councillor McClintock said that she hoped that work would begin before the end of this year.

She stated: “The DUP are currently organising meetings with the NIHE on a variety of issues locally.”

Thousands of homes in Londonderry will benefit from works over 2014/15.

‘External cyclical maintenance’ will be carried out on 128 units at Curlew Way/Clooney,’ for example.

‘Kitchen replacements’ will also be delivered at 120 units in ‘Bawnmore/Clonmeen;’ and at 118 units at ‘Heron/Curlew/Lapwing.’

Meanwhile, ‘heating installations’ will take place at 63 units in the Waterside and ‘smoke alarm replacements’ will take place at 419 units, also in the Waterside.

Works will also be undertaken in several estates on the cityside.
