Dwelling 'refusal'

PLANNERS were of the opinion to refuse plans for a site for a single farm dwelling 43 metres north east of 171 Torr Road, Cushendun.

The applicant is Mr H. McNeill and the application was deferred from a previous meeting between Moyle Council and planners.

Planners said it had not been demonstrated that the proposed new building is visually linked or sited to cluster with an established group of buildings on the farm.

It was said the proposed building is a prominent feature in the landscape and the site lacks long established natural boundaries.

Planners said it would result in a suburban-style build-up and if permitted prejudice the safety and convenience of road users since it would not be possible within the application site to provide adequate sight lines where the proposed access joins Torr Road.

And planners said the plans would adversely affect the setting of an achaeological site and monument of local importance.
