Earlier kick-off time for Hallowe'en fireworks

LONDONDERRY'S Hallowe'en fireworks display will kick-off at the slightly earlier time of 7pm according to Derry City Council.

The local authority have advised that the traditional fireworks display will take place at 7pm following the Carnival of Light parade which departs from the Council Car Park at 6pm.

There will be restricted pedestrian access to the city centre area of Waterloo Place and Guildhall Square from 5pm on Sunday, October 31 until 7am on Monday November 1.

Several roads within the city centre will also be temporarily closed from 4.45pm on Sunday, October 31.

Alternative routes will be available for traffic at this time.

There will be arrival drop-off locations at either end of the family friendly zone at Whittaker Street (beside Guildhall) from Foyle Street direction and from the Strand Road direction, the Strand Road roundabout until 5pm.

After 5pm the Rock Road is the main drop-off point.

There are normal service times for Translink in operation in the city on Sunday evening.

The only change is for Shantallow and Ballymagroarty which will be departing from the Strand Road.
