Eating Smarties - helping others

THE OFFICERS and boys from 3rd Ballymoney Boys' Brigade have, once again, raised a significant amount of money to help some of the most marginalised people living in very remote parts of rural Kenya.

The boys were all given tubes of Smarties to enjoy and asked to refill the tube with 20ps as a fundraising effort. The boys were all enthusiastic to take part and the total raised was 630.

On Sundaymorning, Captain Colin Owens and Anchor Boy, Joshua Coulter, presented a cheque to Richard Gunning from Reach the Unreached Ministries (RTU).

Ballymoney Church of God has well established links in Kenya through their association with RTU.

This partnership means that 100 per cent of the money the boys raised will be used to help some of Kenya's poorest people.

The money will be used to provide a new building in a very isolated area - during the week it will be used as a primary school and at the weekend it will be used as a Church. At present, the only meeting place is under a tree!

This is the third year the boys have taken part in this fundriaser and look forward to seeing photographs of the building, the children and the families who will benefit.
