The Lisburn Urban Area Economic Review, which was commissioned by Lagan Valley MP Jeffrey Donaldson and then Mayor Councillor Margaret Tolerton, was launched at Vic Ryn last Friday morning

The report, which received input from a variety of partners, including Lisburn Chamber of Commerce, Lisburn City Council, Lisburn City Centre Management, Springvale and SERC, came up with five key findings in areas such as infrastructure and planning, as well as producing an action plan for the next steps in boosting the city’s economy.

One of the main priorities is the development of a city centre boutique hotel and the promotion of Lisburn as a tourist destination.
The report was welcomed by Lagan Valley MP Jeffrey Donaldson, who said that Lisburn needs to adopt a more focused and proactive approach to attract large manufacturing and retail businesses to the city.

“With strong civic and community leadership, Lisburn has the potential to be a city that we can all be justly proud of,” said Mr Donaldson.
