The contest also encourages schoolchildren to be creative in their use of ICT, literacy, numeracy and communications skills.

Speaking after his visit to the school, the Minister said: “The atmosphere at St Pius X College during my visit was vibrant and hugely positive.

“I pay tribute to the teachers and staff at the school who work so hard to deliver the competition each year and also to those at the primary schools that take part.

“The young people have clearly put a lot of effort into their projects and that is testament to the support they receive on a day-to-day basis at school.

“Well done to all involved today and I wish the children well as they continue their studies.”
