DUP Councillor Anne Forde yesterday condemned the incident.

She said the congregation were at a loss as to why they were targetted as they had tried to fit in “with all sides” in the strongly nationalist village.

“The church was pelted with eggs and these, as you can imagine, have left a terrible mess,” she said.

Councillor Forde said a holiday Bible club was taking place at the church and there were visitors from overseas.

A PSNI spokesperson said the incident was reported to them at around 1.20pm on Sunday.

Anyone who can assist the investigation is asked to contact police on the non-emergency 101.
