Eglinton 400th anniversary party this weekend

The 400th anniversary of Eglinton is being celebrated by the village’s annual show committee on Saturday.

A family picnic is being held at the Paddock beside the cricket ground on Saturday May 15 from 3.30pm.

“Bring along you picnics, rugs, families and friends,” a spokesman said.

There’s free entertainment for all.

“We would love children to come along dressed up as their favourite historical characters as well.”

There will be music provided by brass bands and jazz bands, story-telling by Liz Weir, a tug of war and other old-fashioned community games.
