Eglinton studentgains recognition

An Eglinton agricultural graduate has received a top gong from the specialist Harper Adams University in the West Midlands.

Michael Murphy, aged 22, who graduated with BSc(Hons) Agricultural Engineering with Marketing and Management, receives the Claas (UK) Trophy from Jane Broomhall, CLAAS Personnel Manager.

This award is made annually at graduation to the best BSc/BSc (Hons) Agricultural Engineering with Marketing and Management student at Harper Adams University, Shropshire.

His tutors said: “Michael spent his placement year working for John Deere Advanced Engineering as their Mid-Tractor Product Line Marketing Intern. Based in Mannheim, Germany, the role involved supporting product specialists with competitor evaluations, and supporting training and promotional events.

“The relationship continued with John Deere, providing Michael with a confidential project for his Final Year Dissertation, through which he continued to display excellent technical skills and professionalism, and Michael enters his graduate career as John Deere’s Mid-Tractor Product Specialist for Non-Agricultural applications.

“Michael also contributed heavily to student life at Harper Adams, as resident Students’ Union DJ (DJing to 2000 people at a Summer Ball being a particular highlight), as Technical Manager on the Summer Ball Committee, as a student ambassador and also as a warden.

“We would like to thank Michael for his contributions to Harper Adams University, and wish him all the best with his future career.”
