“Everyone’s vision changes over time and sometimes these changes can progress slowly, meaning they can go unnoticed,” said Jean Kelly, Owner and optometrist at Eglinton Eyecare.

“That is why we recommend that everyone has an eye examination at least once every two years,” she added.

She made the comments in support of Road Safety Week, which runs from November 17 to November 23.

“We hope that many local people will take the opportunity to make sure their vision is road worthy and their eyes are healthy this Road Safety Week.”

According to Ms Kelly poor vision is estimated to cause 2,900 road casualties every year and £33 million in the UK alone per year.
