Elderly couple die within a few days of each other

IT was with profound sorrow that the residents of Closkelt and Moneyslane learned of the passing within a few days of each other of Mr Robert and his wife Molly Malcomson of 103 Katesbridge Road, Ballyroney. Robert passed away at home on Monday March 26 and Molly passed away in Daisy Hil Hospital on Sunday April 1.

Robert was in his 99th year and Molly was in her 100th year. Robert was in the farming business and carried out mixed farming. Married for over 69 years and were very happy together.

They were members of Drumgooland Presbyterian Church and were the oldest members of the congregation. They are survived by two daughters Minnie and Margaret, son Robert, son-in-law Martin, daughter-in-law Lorraine, grandchildren Sharon, Robert, Samuel, Ian, Robert and Jennifer, great grandchildren David, Lauren, Molly, Rebecca, Jodie & Robert.

To these and all other relatives sincere sympathy has been extended. The funeral of Robert took place on Thursday March 29 and Molly’s funeral took place on Tuesday April 3 both to Ballyroney Presbyterian Churchyard.

Their minister the Rev. Michael Davidson officiated at the home and graveside. Family flowers were placed on the graves and donations in lieu of flowers are being sent to William Bell and Co. Funeral Directors, 23 Kenlis Street, Banbridge, BT32 3LR for Drumgooland Presbyterian Church Funds.

William Bell and Co. had charge of the funeral arrangements.
