Elderly woman shaken by burglary

Police in Coleraine are appealing for information following the report of a distraction type burglary in the Coleraine Road area of Ballymoney on Tuesday 9th July.

It was reported that at around 2.30pm a man called to the door of an elderly woman and attempted to lure her from the house to inspect nearby land. When the woman refused to leave the house the man pushed his way past into the living room, snatched a handbag and then left on foot.

He was described as being around 30 years old and 5’10” tall, of slim build with short brown hair and a tanned complexion.

He was wearing a blue coloured polo shirt and blue jeans. The woman was not physically injured but left very badly shaken.

Police would ask anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area or who has any information to contact them in Coleraine on 0845 600 8000.
