Election fever hits St Brigid’s

The election itself was undertaken under the same rules as an assembly or council election with photographic identification required as well as pooling booths and ballot box supplied by The Electoral Office for Northern Ireland. Having the real election booths and ballot boxes helped make the election very authentic for the children and added to the excitement of the day. The school is very grateful to The Electoral Office for their support.

St. Brigid’s School Council has been established to give the children a voice in the running of the school. Pupils through Circle Time, Class Councils and on-line discussions raise issues of concern and suggestions on how to improve the school.

Their Pupil Council elected members then take this information to the full School Council meetings where it is debated with other children and representatives from the teaching staff. As well as helping to improve the school, the children are also developing their educational and personal capabilities. Congratulations to all the elected councillors and everyone in St. Brigid’s looks forward to working together.
