Election 'foisted on the ratepayers'

WITH the closely fought council by-election scheduled for next week, the DUP have claimed that the "most striking feature of the by-election will be the sheer number of people who will turn their backs upon the whole charade."

Chairman of Craigavon DUP David McConaghie said: “This is a by-election that should never have been foisted upon the ratepayers of Craigavon.”

Mr McConaghie concluded : “Whoever finally emerges as a councillor will only have earned for themselves the dubious title of most selfish and expensive councillor anywhere in Northern Ireland. The real voice of the people will be heard in the absence of so many potential voters.”
