At the party’s campaign launch in Magherafelt Mr Molloy told activists he would “challenge the years of inequality of investment in infrastructure across Mid Ulster”.

“Since the by-election win in 2013 I have been privileged to represent the people of Mid Ulster. As an MP I have been on the ground working on behalf of the electorate on a wide range of issues from housing to roads, from farming to social security appeals.

“We have lobbied for increased education places in nursery, primary and second level schools with some good successful outcomes.”

“However, I have also worked with many businesses across the constituency which have experienced many problems in getting going, in developing and in securing improved infrastructure. I believe that the historical neglect of the west has had a long term and lasting effect on our economy.”
