Election posters in wrong constituency - claim

A claim that North Antrim Westminster candidate, Jim Allister's election posters were put up in the East Londonderry constituency has been made this week.

A caller to the Times said that Mr. Allister’s posters were erected near Ballytober Primary School which, he claimed, was NOT in the North Antrim constituency but in East Londonderry.

The caller said: “I thought Mr. Allister was contesting the North Antrim constituency, but it appears he and his supporters are somewhat lost!”

It is understood that the people who put up the posters were not from this area and made a genuine mistake.

However, the source of the story who is from a different unionist camp from the TUV leader was quick to seize the opportunity to score some political points.

He said: “It seems that Mr. Alistair’s supporters do not know their way around North Antrim. The fact is that Ian Paisley Jnr. knows every nook and cranny of his constituency he has represented for 14 years.

“He has sat at the master’s feet and learnt like any good apprenctice the way to be a diligent and professional public representative.

“There is on thing that is certain, Ian Paisley Jnr., will not get lost around North Antrim neither will he lose his way to Westminster because he will be returned with a resounding vote to speak about the people and the country he knows.”
