Electoral registration event at Coleraine Town Hall

AN electoral event will be held in Coleraine Town Hall next Monday, March 25.

The event is being organised by East Londonderry MLAs Gregory Campbell, George Robinson and Adrian McQuillan.

The event will be held from 2.30pm to 5.30pm, when staff from the Electoral Office will be attending to assist with the registration and ID process. The event will be of particular interest to those who are not currently on the Electoral Register, those who want to avail of an electoral identity card or if you have recently moved house or turned 18.

Gregory Campbell explained: “Figures released on 1st March 2013 from the Electoral Office for Northern Ireland for the Coleraine Borough Council Area state there are just under 40,000 people on the Electoral Register.

“The recently released Census for 2011 indicated that there are 46,050 over the age of 18 living in the Coleraine Borough Council, this means that there are more than 6,000 people living in the Coleraine area who are not registered to vote.”

In order to speed up the registration process it would be helpful, where possible, to bring some form of photographic ID (i.e. Passport or Driving Licence), a utility bill (electricity, gas, telephone, etc.) or a bank statement showing your name and address. You will also need to know your National Insurance number.
