Ellen (7) has hair cut for Princess Trust

Since her grandfather died last year, little Ellen Dickson has been begging her mum to have her hair cut to donate it to the Little Princess Trust charity.

Her mum Audrey had picked up a leaflet on the trust charity while visiting her father and when her daughter spotted it, she has been eager to do her bit for charity.

Mum Audrey said: “I lost my dad last year and I just happened to pick up a leaflet on the Little Princess Trust.

She added: “Ellen, who was six then, is just princess mad and has been reading all about it and asking to take part in it for the past year.

“It was all her idea and she couldn’t wait to get her hair cut,” said Audrey.

“However, her dad Mark isn’t so keen on the idea,” she added.

The seven-year-old went to New Image in Legahory and has donated nine inches of her hair.

“She was so keen and it is a lovely charity and lovely thing to do,” said Audrey who has been living in the Bleary area since moving here from South Africa 23 years ago.

Her father Godfrey Johnston had returned home seven years ago, however, he was diagnosed with cancer and though he battled through the illness, he passed away last year.

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

The Trust was launched in 2006 by the parents of Hannah Tarplee, along with help from friends and from Hannah’s school. Sadly she was diagnosed with having a Wilms tumour and after a brave battle, died in 2005.
