Elliott senses that change is in Londonderry air

Mr Elliot, the Fermanagh and South Tyrone MP, was in Londonderry in support of UUP candidate Julia Kee.

“I think people realise that it is time for a change and that there is an appetite out there for things to be done differently,” he said.

“Foyle is going to be an interesting battle with three unionists standing, but I think that will only serve to bring out more unionist voters.

“When I was party leader I met with Julia on a number of occasions to discuss matters relating to her role as a community worker.

“I recognised at that stage the level of commitment that she had to the community which she served.

“The amount of time and effort that Julia put into community activity was hugely impressive.

“I recognised the positive contribution being made and urged Julia to join the Ulster Unionist Party.

“I was very pleased that someone who provides so much to the local community decided to join the party and offer that community commitment to a wider section of people, throughout the entire Foyle constituency.

“I am extremely pleased that Julia has decided to go forward as a candidate for the Northern Ireland Assembly elections.

“I am certainly convinced that she would make a great MLA, who would bring the community issues directly 
to the heart of government.”
