Emily’s giant leap pays off for charity

A BALLYCARRY teenager who took the plunge for charity has raised the fantastic sum of £325.

Emily Cloke tackled a parachute jump from 13,000ft in aid of the national Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.

The kind-hearted 18-year-old was inspired to take part in the event by her 11-year-old brother Kenny, who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy – a neuromuscular condition caused by the lack of a protein called dystrophin. It is a serious condition that causes progressive muscle weakness.

Speaking after landing safely back on solid ground, Emily told the Times: “I found the experience exhilerating, I could hardly take a gasp of air as I was traveling at around 120mph. Overall the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign raised £80,000 as a result of people taking part in sky dives across the country this month, which is amazing.

“I would definitely like to do it again, but would wear something warmer next time as it was -26 degrees up there,” she concluded.
