Emma takes the plunge for Cedar

Forty people from all over Northern Ireland including Ballymoney woman, Emma McCrory took part in The Cedar Foundation's latest fundraising challenge - an abseil down the side of the Radisson Blu Hotel in Belfast.

Over 6,500 was raised to help Cedar's work with children and adults with disabilities throughout Northern Ireland.

Cedar has 23 locations across Northern Ireland and this was reflected by the fact that people came from far and wide to take part in the event. As well as from Ballymoney, fundraisers travelled from Derry, Enniskillen, Newry, Ballymena, Portstwewart, Coleraine, Dungannon, Carrickfergus, Moira and Donaghadee.

The event attracted people for all kinds of reasons; some were abseil enthusiasts, for some it was their first ever abseil, others took up the challenge to conquer their fear of heights. Many were accompanied by friends and family who cheered them on whilst basking in the warm sunshine.

Following her abseil Emma said: "It was a great experience I really enjoyed it - I would definitely do another one again. My friends Kim and Claire also did the abseil and we're all pleased to have supported the excellent work of The Cedar Foundation."

Christine Tweedie, Cedar's Fundraising Co-ordinator added: "We are really grateful to everyone who came along to take part and raise so much money for our work. Anyone who missed this event can take part in our next fundraising challenge, a freefall indoor abseil at the Storm Cinema at the Odyssey Pavilion Belfast in November."

The Cedar Foundation works in partnership with disabled people across Northern Ireland providing quality support, care, accommodation and training services to enable disabled adults and children to participate in all aspects of community life.
