Emmerdale script to boost charity

LURGAN businesswoman, Anne Moore, is calling out to soap fans for ideas for a special Emmerdale-themed charity event.

The owner of Anne Moore’s salon on William Street managed to get her hands on a special piece of soap memorabilia after her stint as a celebrity stylist at this year’s Walkers Sensations TV Now Awards in Dublin.

She said: “I have kept in contact with Nicola Wheeler from Emmerdale, who plays Nicola (King), and she has kindly sent me a 2008 script which has been signed by every cast member.”

Anne now wants to work a bit of soap magic here in Lurgan by using the script to raise money for her charity, New Horizon, and is asking the public to help with ideas on how to do this.

She set up the New Horizon Project to support people who have lost their hair through illness or treatment by providing high-quality wigs and styling.

Over the years the charity has organised a number of fundraising events, such as raffles, a Christmas craft fayre and a masquerade ball, and Anne is hoping to match their success with this upcoming Emmerdale event.

Another issue close to Anne’s heart is the Big Build for Habitat for Humanity. She will be part of a team of 150 people from Northern Ireland who will build houses in Romania in October this year.

To raise money for this there will be a raffle in her salon, where customers can buy a square for five pounds to win a year of free hairdressing. All proceeds will go to the Big Build.

If you have an idea for the Emmerdale fundraiser or want to get involved with the Big Build raffle, call Anne Moore’s on 3832 6808 or visit the salon on William Street, Lurgan.
