Emmett to Pipe at St Patrick’s Concert

THE St Patrick’s Celebrations Concert at the Burnavon this Saturday (16th) at 8pm welcomes a special guest in the shape of acclaimed local piper Emmett Conway.

At just 21 years of age, Emmett is well known as an accomplished solo and band player with a host of titles to his name.

Emmett started his band career with Ballinderry Bridge, where he won the World Championships in Grade 2 aged just 13. He now plays for the world famous and eight times Grade 1 World Champions, Field Marshall Montgomery Pipe Band with whom he has won all the majors. Indeed last year he was part of history when Field Marshall completed the Grand Slam taking all five majors in the one season.

last week from New Zealand where he played in their National Championships.

In January Emmett recorded a programme for BBC TV alongside world renowned piper Fred Morrison and was a guest musician with the Ulster Orchestra performing with Karen Matheson. February saw Emmett perform in Derry-Londonderry in the Sons and Daughters opening concert for the City of Culture on BBC alongside such names as Phil Coulter, Gary Lightbody, Paul Brady and Dana.
