End of an era for Action Cancer as Norma steps down

To mark the occasion Norma handed over a cheque for 25,000, bringing the total raised during her eleven years as Chairperson of the group to a staggering 640,000.

Speaking as she presented the money to Douglas King from Action Cancer, Norma said: "The group have worked so hard to raise such a fantastic total and I would like to thank all of them for their commitment and support, particularly Jean Hazley and Eva Dobson who have worked with me as Secretary and Treasurer during my term.

"Action Cancer is very proud of the Lisburn Group and what they have achieved and this is in no small part down to the commitment of both Norma as Chairperson and Eddie who has supported her," he said.

"I would like to thank Olive for stepping into the role and I know the other group members will help her ably. The funds the Lisburn group raise go a long way in allowing Action Cancer to offer its early detection and support services to the people of Northern Ireland and we thank them for their contribution."
