Enrolment increase on the cards after GCSE success

Principal Eugene Martin confirmed that the school had been inundated with applications from students wishing to continue their studies at sixth form level.

“Personally, I would like to congratulate all of our Year 12 students and our teaching staff for their endeavour and dedication over the last two years,” Mr Martin said.

“This has culminated in the students achieving the best set of examination results at GCSE level Ulidia has had to date.”

High achievers included Scott Livingstone, who is aiming to study Performing Arts and ICT after earning an A*, an A, a B, four C grades and an E.

Also returning for sixth form study is Amy Drury, who achieved an A* in Health and Social Care, a B, four Cs, a D and an E grade.

Callum Baxter’s results included an A*, two As, two Cs and a distinction in Performing Arts.

Meanwhile, Kayeung Fong was happy with his results of a distinction in ICT, an A* in Chinese, and an A in Science along with six Bs and a C.

Fellow outgoing Year 12 student Antonia Cowan is hoping to study English Literature, Travel and Tourism and Moving Image Arts after picking up two A* grades, six Bs and four Cs.

“Comparing our results with the most recent benchmarking data available from the Department of Education, Ulidia would be ranked amongst the top performing schools in Northern Ireland,” Mr Martin added.

“Some 96 percent of all results were at Grade C or better with almost a third of results at Grade A* or A or equivalent. Every student achieved at least five or more A*-C grades, while 85 percent of our Year 12 students will be returning for sixth form study.”
