This latest tragedy has also led to a rising tide of anger about the junction which is well known to locals as a very dangerous stretch of road.

Locals have pointed out that they have been campaigning for years to have all the junctions along the route examined for possible safety improvements with a number of people saying the time has come for action to be taken to prevent another such tragedy.

A member of Ballee Baptist Church, Karla and her husband, David, were involved in running Sunday school and other groups for children.

Karla was also an assistant manager at Country Treasures Daycare near Randalstown. She had worked there for more than three years.
