The visit was hosted by the business manager Rita Frost and franchisee, John McCollum, who brought classroom theory to life as they introduced the pupils to the McDonald’s story; explained how the franchised business works as a close partnership and gave an insight into how the business operates.

Key to the visit was how McDonald’s commitment to quality standards and quality assurance has translated into the everyday customer experience.

A spokesperson for the school said: “We found the visit to McDonalds invaluable.

“Both John McCollum and Rita Frost were very accommodating and took part in an interview with the pupils.

“They talked about various things such as health and safety in the work place, quality assurance and running a franchise.

“The information they gave us helped form the controlled assessment unit for GCSE Business Studies.
