Craigavon firms are congratulated

SIX local firms have been congratulated for being included in a list of the province’s top 100 companies.

Sinn Féin Assembly Member John O’Dowd congratulated the six Craigavon firms listed amongst the Belfast Telegraph’s 2012 Top 100 Companies.

Moy Park topped the list with The ALMAC Group ranked at number ten. Northstone which incorporates the Lurgan based Cubis Industries, NACCO Materials, Ulster Carpets and Clearway Holdings all made the top 100.

The MLA said: “This is a terrific result for Craigavon and the firms listed deserve our congratulations for bucking the trend during a recession. The inclusion of six local firms in the top hundred companies bodes well for the commercial future of the Borough and will help attract new viable businesses to the area.”

Mr O’Dowd noted that between them the top firms increased their employment numbers by over 5% and their combined revenue by 3% on the previous year. Their pre-tax profits rose 17% in 2011 compared to 2010.

He said: “Despite the recession these companies have increased their revenue and proved the worth and expertise of the local workforce. It is companies like these combined with a valuable workforce that will rebuild the economy and put it on a healthy footing,”
