The Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens has thanked Council’s dog wardens for their commitment to stepping up patrols outside a Coleraine primary school.

DUP councillor Tanya Stirling said there has been an ongoing issue with dog foul outside the school at Shuttle Hill.

“To have young children going into school with dog foul on their shoes, or parents pushing prams through this, is really not acceptable,” said Cllr Stirling.

“I’d like to thank the Council estates team who have been out several times to clean up the path. Sadly within a few days it is as bad as ever again. Council’s dog wardens have upped patrols in the area in a bid to catch the perpetrator.

“As dog owners we all have a responsibility to clear up after our dogs and I would remind dog owners of the fines that can be imposed if you are caught allowing your dog to foul.”
