Flood alleviation works are welcomed

Social Democratic and Labour Party MLA Pat Catney has welcomed investment of £900,000 in flood alleviation works in Lisburn.

The Lagan Valley MLA said that the investment underscores the SDLP’s commitment to delivering for local people.

“Flooding events can turn your life upside down overnight,” said Mr Catney,

“Aside from cleaning up the immediate aftermath of a storm surge, homeowners can have problems with insurance premiums and structural issues to resolve long after.

“I’m delighted that our SDLP Minister is investing in flood alleviation works around Prince William Road.

“There are around 100 homes here that are at risk of flooding during bad weather and I know people will be relieved that action is being taken to protect them.

“This is another example of the SDLP delivering for local people.”
