Speaking on this latest development, Chair of Mid Ulster District Council’s Environment Committee, Councillor Sean McGuigan, said: “Until now, bin sales had to be done in person or over the phone during office hours which is more time consuming and less convenient for customers. To have this service now available online on the Council website, where it can be completed in a few simple clicks, will greatly benefit both residents and council staff going forward.

Residents can now go straight online themselves and action this request, 24 hours a day, which in turn will alleviate some of the pressure and workload from our frontline council staff. I have no doubt the new online service will work really well here and will be fully embraced and utilised by residents in the district.”

Bins cost £25 each or all three bins can be purchased for a discounted price of £60. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and current restrictions, all bins purchased online will be delivered by the Council free of charge.

The Council's policy allows for the fortnightly collection of one black bin, one brown bin and up to two blue bins per household (where an additional blue bin has been purchased).
