Plan turned down

A PROPOSAL to build 100 news homes in north Lurgan has been turned down by the planners.

Permission had been sought to build the development in the Tarry Lane/North Circular Road area.

And despite no objections, the planners dismissed the proposal put forward by a firm called Tarry Lane Developments.

According to the DoE Planning Service the development did not ‘respect the surrounding context’ and it was not ‘appropriate to the character and topography of the site’.

It appears there was also a lack of provision for public and private open space,

Nor was there provision for parking.

It was also felt that the design and layout may effect existing properties in terms of overlooking and loss of light.
