Plans for 19-dwelling development at former Dervock rectory

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has received plans for a 19-dwelling development at a former rectory in Dervock.

The planning application was recently submitted to council’s planning portal, and seeks permission to erect ten semi-detached houses, three detached houses, and six two-bed apartments close to 231 Castlecat Road in the village.

An accompanying Design and Access Statement noted the development would also include its own waste water treatment plant due to “the passage of time and the ongoing problems with NI sewage infrastructure”.

“The site is located within the Dervock Settlement Development Limits, between the existing Castlewood housing development and Dervock Recreation Grounds,” the statement added.

“Farm lands and surrounding rural lands exist to the west of the site, outside of the Dervock Settlement Development Limit. The site is separated along the site perimeter by a dense ring of mature trees and woodland, which will be retained and maintained.

“The existing lands at 231 Castlecat Road are vacant, overgrown and unkempt with recent anti-social activity within the site and an urgent need for redevelopment.

“This proposal does not create any conflict with the existing or neighbouring land uses. The site also resides beside an existing area of open space therefore providing convenient and additional amenity.”
