Pupils help plant trees forBallysally

School children from Ballysally Primary School were out in force recently to help the Housing Executive as it embarks on a major planting scheme on the Coleraine estate.

The pupils lent a helping hand to the organisation’s Acting Chief Executive, Mags Lightbody, during her recent visit to the town and to the Ballysally estate.

As part of the scheme, almost 900 shrubs and trees are being planted on the estate as part of an environmental improvement scheme at Elms Park, Loughanhill Park and Ballygalling Park.

192 trees of various species will be planted as well as 644 shrubs and herbaceous plants, at a cost of £62,000.

Mark Alexander, Area Manager of Causeway, told The Coleraine Times: “We would like to thank the children from Ballysally Primary School for taking part and helping us out on the day.

“This investment forms an integral part of our plans for the physical and social regeneration of the Ballysally estate.”
