Roadworks planned for roundabouts

ROADWORKS are due to begin at Prince William Road and Antrim Road next month.

In a bid to keep disruption to a minimum the work will be carried out at night rather than during the day.

Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy announced the start of a £215,000 resurfacing scheme at Prince William Road and Antrim Road roundabouts.

The work is due to begin on June 24.

The Minister said: “This scheme will increase the life of the road, greatly improving the strength and ride quality of the carriageway.”

Works on the roundabouts will begin each evening from approximately 8pm and continue until 6am each morning.

During these works both roundabouts will be closed to ensure the safety of road users and the operations on site. Diversion will be via the Knockmore Road/Moira Road.

The scheme is expected to be completed by June 30.

The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and Roads Service will keep the public informed of any change.

Roads Service has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.
