Speeding to be tackled at Agherton and Lissadell

Following complaints from local residents about speeding drivers last year, Skerries Councillor Mark Fielding had asked Roads Service to come back to the local authority with a plan to tackle the problem.

Divisional Roads Manager, Diedre Mackle, revealed in her letter to Council, which was dated December 29, 2011, her department had an overwhelming response to the initial consultation process and she hoped to bring a revised scheme before Council in early 2012.

She said: “As part of the statutory requirement for the development of traffic calming schemes, interested parties were given the opportunity to comment on the preliminary design proposals for Agherton Road/Lisadell Avenue.

“There was a good response to the consulation process with a wide range of comments received. While we received a number of comments welcoming the scheme, we also received a significant set of comments both requesting changes to the proposals and objecting to the proposals outright.

“In response to this we felt it was appropriate to review the design proposals to take account of the issues raised through the consultation process. Revised proposals for further comment will be forwarded to all Skerries Councillors and to those who responded to the consultation process.”We hope to have the revised proposals presented for comment early in the New Year,” she added.
