As 2020 came to an end, the USPCA team found themselves with an unexpected New Year’s Eve guest as a very weak and dehydrated buzzard came into their care.

This very majestic patient was found by a member of the public in the Larne area and was taken into a local vet who then brought it to the attention of the USPCA animal rescue officer.

The buzzard underwent a thorough examination with the veterinary team and spent two weeks recuperating to rebuild its strength before being released again.

Although not eating at first, the buzzard slowly but surely made great progress as the USPCA veterinary team persevered and he eventually found his appetite.

The USPCA is delighted to report that he has fully recovered and is now safely back in the wild.
