Eoghan will be back

EOGHAN Quigg's father has said the 17 year-old returned to his Dungiven based high school to "escape" the fallout of his debut album.

Speaking to the Sentinel in an intimate interview about the X-Factor finalist's career, Chrissy Quigg said Eoghan, who came third in the 2008 competition, wanted to "escape the bubble" of the music industry after record label RCA dropped him in 2009 and one critic slammed his debut release as: "the worst album in the history of recorded sound".

"Eoghan had no input into it," Chrissy told the Sentinel. "He sang the songs the record company wanted him to sing. It was totally unorthodox, it was rushed and it was recorded in eight to ten days. We just supplied the artist, the record company did the rest."

Eoghan's dad and full time manager spoke out about the singer's experience after Eoghan's one-time love interest Diana Vickers stormed to the top of the charts last weekend with her first album 'Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree'.

"It was rushed and fired out there for a quick kill," Chrissy said on album 'Eoghan Quigg'.

"We would've preferred if he had've released a single to test the water. Promote it and maybe another single and then in eight to ten months co-write an album.

"But this album was recorded before the X-Factor tour, just six weeks after the show. It wasn't his fault and people have to know this."

Eoghan went back to St Patrick's High School, Dungiven last June to study for his GCSE's after he took time out to do the X-Factor tour, sing with Boyzone and promote his first album. But Dad Chrissy, who co-manages the talented teenager with wife Denise, says the reasons for his return to education ran more deep.

"Eoghan would have never have went back to school if the album had've taken off. Personally I think it was an escape for him. That was his escape out of it.

"He couldn't believe how the record company would treat someone so young. This is supposed to be a culture where we entice young talent and let it blossom, they were just looking to make a quick buck and drop him."

Chrissy added: "To be third and to be told he had the highest number of votes over a period of six weeks out of the ten, it was very unprofessional by RCA. We have never actually been told Eoghan's been dropped either. We heard about it through the media.

"He's now well through his GCSE's and back at school. My excuse for him for going back was to get out of the whole bubble, to just get out of it."

Chrissy feels the label could have promoted the Dungiven X-Factor finalist "far more" but added the whole experience has made Eoghan more focused for the future.

"He has a thick hide which unfortunately you have to have in this business. We are going to work at it, get a holiday and see what comes up after that as well as get in contact with a few writers.

"He's also learned to play the acoustic guitar so we'll get him back on the scene. You'll probably see him back on TV near the summer."

Chrissy adds: "He hasn't gone away and Eoghan wants his fan base to know that. He'll be back."
