Epilepsy award for Fair Hill

Kinallen's Fair Hill Primary School has picked up an award for its work in supporting pupils with epilepsy.

Local volunteer Derick Woods presented the school with one of Epilepsy Action’s Edward Awards, which go to nurseries, schools, colleges and universities who have gone above and beyond in supporting students or pupils with epilepsy.

Fair Hill was nominated by Christine Bailey for its support of her daughter Georgina (11), who suffers from hyperinsulinism and epilepsy.

Georgina, who suffers severe seizures, cannot be left unsupervised; Fair Hill provides a classroom assistant, who helps ensure Georgina can play a full part in school life, and, as part of a wider action plan, sees staff receive epilepsy awareness training.
