Eric Bristow set for town

DARTS legend Eric Bristow was announced to be visiting Craigavon in March 1991.

The ‘Crafty Cockney’ was to visit that September, playing an exhibition match in Craigavon Civic Centre.

This was part of the 34-year-old, five times World Professional Darts Champion’s tour of the province, in which he would also play in Belfast and Lisburn.

It was the first time he was visit Craigavon and it was hoped he would play up to 16 matches against players in the area who competed in the Lurgan and Portadown leagues.

Bristow’s visit was a major boost for darts fans as, although he was no longer the world champion, he was still undoubtedly the biggest crowd puller in the sport.
