Erin and Orlagh grab lead role

ERIN Tennyson from Craigavon and Orlagh Shanks from Aghagallon have been given the role of Pocahontas in MADS’ next production.

Erin is aged 15 and attends Lismore Comprehensive School, Craigavon.

She has performed in many MADS shows such as Joseph, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Les Miserable and Bring it On.

She has also performed as Scuttle in The Little Mermaid and DJ Jackie Scott in High School Musical.

Erin is studying GCSE Drama and is looking forward to performing the role.

Orlagh is aged 14 and attends St Michael’s Grammar School, Lurgan.

She has been a key member of the junior section of the drama society and has performed in shows such as Les Miserable, Sleeping Beauty, Little Mermaid and Footloose.

She has also performed as Javar in Aladdin, Fairy God Mother in Cinderella and Martha Cox in High School Musical.

Orlagh also won the Lurgan’s got Talent competition between her previous school, St Mary’s and Lurgan Junior High School.

Barry McCrory, spokesperson, said: “After weeks of auditions with a high interest in this production, the role of Pocahontas had to be allocated to two people.

“Both Orlagh and Erin give an excellent audition which is why they got the part.”

Pocahontas will be part of a double bill of shows, with the other production being The Jungle Book.

It is hoped that these shows will be performed in early April, but this can’t be confirmed until the renovations are completed at the St Anthony’s Centre.
