Errant Cllrs mayhave to repay

A new rule will take effect on November 1 allowing Councils reclaim expenses from Councillors who have failed to comply with the Northern Ireland Local Government Code of Conduct.

According to the DoE it makes provision for the repayment of any sums expended by a Council or an insurer in any cases in which a Councillor has been found to have failed to comply with, or admitted that they have failed to comply with the code.
