Escapee back behind bars
The man who escaped from police custody before appearing at Londonderry Magistrates’ courthouse two days before Christmas, is now back behind bars - having been remanded in custody at Wednesday’s sitting of Londonderry Magistrates’ Court.
Dean Beattie (22), of Glenowen Park, appeared in court on the back of a Bench Warrant issued on December 23 - when he escaped from police custody by jumping over the fence at the Bishop Street courthouse.
In addition to the charges he originally faced, Beattie now faces two additional charges. The first is that he escaped the lawful custody of the PSNI and the second that he intimidated a person on December 28.
There was no application for bail lodged and Beattie will appear again, via videolink, in court on January 21 next.
