Espresso kids at Carnalridge

Thanks to the fundraising events of the PTA and the fantastic support from parents the Portrush pupils are being equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary for our world of ever-advancing technology.

Espresso, a leading digital curriculum provider in the UK, is considered the ‘gold’ standard in the world of e-learning, transforming the learning experience through a unique blend of visual media and interactive resources. It is fully accessible at home so learning can be extended beyond the classroom, with the knowledge that all content is safeguarded and age-appropriate.

Staff at Carnalridge agree that iPads are fast becoming a ‘staple’ of most post-primary schools, so purchasing a pool of these ensures all pupils will be better prepared for the next stage of their education.

A Year seven pupil said: “Using iPads and Espresso makes learning fun and I love the interactive hands on experience.”

Lynne Cooper, said: “Most households these days have some kind of computer, but if yours is anything like ours – it is mostly used for Angry Birds, Candy Crush or Minecraft! As a PTA, our primary aim is to enhance the education of our children, so it’s great that we have been able to make such a substantial investment towards future-proofing the pupils’ learning.

“I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the PTA, to express our sincere thanks to all parents for their amazing support at our events - this purchase would not have been possible without it.”

A spokesperson from the Education Board commented: “NEELB is pleased to note that the Parent Teacher Association of Carnalridge Primary School has provided funding to enable the school to further embrace the use of innovative technology in the classroom.

“The effective and creative use of ICT can enhance the learning experience for the children and research has shown that the involvement of the parents in a child’s education can have a significant impact on their achievements”.
